Secondly, that World Beard Championship is one wild and funny thing. Dang!
And thirdly, I can't believe the oversight, but I actually forgot the facial hair style most likely to become the Next Big Emergent Thing.

Crowder-- his style is so great. I remember I saw him a few years ago in Chicago and asked a friend, "How much gel you think he puts on his hair?"-- to which he responded, "none anymore bro-- it is forever shocked out."
It isn't quite the freestyle moustache I'm shooting for, however. Have you decided what category you're entering the beard competition in?
