Welcome Welcome to evergreen... we try hard to make the heart of this community be relationship. Our relationships with one another and our relationship with God. We invite everyone, regardless of where they might be at spiritually to come and be a part of evergreen, seek God with us, and see if this life of following Jesus isn't for them as well. No promises of an easy road... just people to walk it with you.
"Is sex a picture of heaven?" Bell wonders. It's all about God and sex and heaven, he says: "...they're connected. And they can't be separated. Where the one is you will always find the other." Bell's book isn't a sex manual, an exploration of the differences between men and women or a marriage how-to, though all of that is here. Instead, it's the story of God becoming human, of humans mirroring God and love made manifest in the chaos of our humanity. Sex God is about relationships revealed in a way that elevates the human condition and offers hope to those whose relationships are wounded. |

The Lost Practice of Forbearance |

Let’s be honest, there are some people who just rub us the wrong way. What they say bothers us, the way they say it annoys us, and sometimes just their presence bugs us. None of those things sound very “nice” but it’s just the way it is. Who knows, I could very well be that person to you. We are a diverse group of people with different stories and backgrounds and we will simply never all be best friends and “click” like you do with certain people. The problem isn’t the fact that we all don’t have intimate relationships, after all, there’s nothing healthy about having an intimate relationship with every single person in the community. That’s called dysfunction. But the problem lies in the times where our differences or the way we rub on each other gets blown up and conflict breaks out. |

Terminating the Role of Attender |

One of the biggest challenges for evergreen: Can we ever be a church where what happens is driven by the community rather than simply by pastors and elders? It seems to me that the answer to this question really depends on how we conceive of our community. Are we a provider of religious goods and services? Or are we a covenant community, bound together by our commitment to one another and to seeking God together? |

I'll go ahead and assume you were already busy enough before church 'got in the way.' :-) Our lifestyles often lead us headlong into busy weeks with only one or two nights at home with loved ones and friends. Balancing a desire to connect with those in spiritual community with you, earning money in a job, getting rest, staying healthy, getting some peace and quiet, help hungry folks get a meal, and even simply being a good spouse/son/daughter/neighbor can easily feel like a daunting task. |
