Welcome to evergreen... we try hard to make the heart of this community be relationship. Our relationships with one another and our relationship with God. We invite everyone, regardless of where they might be at spiritually to come and be a part of evergreen, seek God with us, and see if this life of following Jesus isn't for them as well. No promises of an easy road... just people to walk it with you.
Feeding the Homeless- Dec/Jan
Feeding the Homeless this Dec/January
Hey all- we have some opportunities coming up for you to be involved in offering food and conversation to some of our homeless friends downtown. Here's the scoop: You can be involved in one (or both) of two ways- going or providing.
Going: Few people to head downtown, hand out lunches, exchange names and conversations.
Providing: 15-20 packed lunches (sandwich, granola bar, banana), bottled water, blankets, socks, coats, plastic bags, gloves, caps, waterproof clothing, tarp covering, etc.
Here are the dates for Dec/Jan-

evergreen and church planting...
From the beginning of Evergreen we've tried to make it a guiding principle that we always want to be growing, introducing more and more people to life in the way of Jesus, but never allow the community to get so large that people would find it difficult to know others and be known themselves.
The only way we can see to make that a reality is through church planting- the starting of other missional communities.
How Will This Ever Work?
Our Christmas Eve Gathering this year will be @ 10am on Sunday, Dec 24th at the Lucky Lab on Hawthorne. In the past we've done late-night Christmas Eve times together, but with Christmas Eve on a Sunday this year, it felt right to meet at our normal time and leave the evening open for time with family/friends/doing some good for others...
Please come celebrate the Advent with us
Men at the Brass on Mondays
Some of the men hang out on Monday nights for an informal time of talking about life, the universe and everything (or nothing!). Currently, we're at the Horse Brass pub on SE Belmont (and 45th/46th) @ 7pm... Come and hang out with us. Info
Some of the women will be doing the same on Thursday nights, come January...
We're getting involved with Arima House!
Arima is a house here in PDX where women in crisis and/or with children can spend time safely. Many are fleeing abusive relationships, or other issues. They stay for free, and can be there up to six months. They also provide a food and clothing bank and some limited counseling. We'd like to begin helping them financially with this through our monthly benevolence giving. Also, I think there's some good opportunity for us to be involved with providing some Christmas gifts for those staying there this holiday season, to help out with the care and maintenance of the house, etc.
